As ROSA is entirely a volunteer-run association, we invite all our members to get involved. If you would be interested in volunteering, we’d love to have you onboard!

At Exco, our commitment lies in ensuring that every decision we make for ROSA is carefully crafted to enhance your romance author adventure. We strive to consider all factors and possibilities to guarantee that the members of ROSA benefits from their membership with us, every single day of the year.

We also drink A LOT of coffee.

And we are always looking for different perspectives!

The benefits of joining Exco:

  1. Leadership Development: Serving on Exco provides valuable opportunities to develop and enhance leadership skills. Committee members often take on significant responsibilities, such as running portfolios, strategic planning, and decision-making. If not for you, it’s also great research for your characters!
  2. Networking: Being part of Exco allows you to connect with other like-minded authors, build friendships, and connect with leaders in the creative community. These connections can lead to collaboration opportunities, partnerships, and personal growth. Awesome, right?
  3. Influence and Impact: As member of ROSA’s Exco, you have a direct role in shaping the direction and policies of the organization. You can influence important decisions, advocate for romance causes you believe in, and contribute to making a positive impact on the community. This is crucial!
  4. Personal Fulfillment: Serving on Exco, influencing, and impacting communities are personally rewarding. Knowing that your efforts are contributing to the greater good and making a difference in the lives of others can bring a sense of fulfillment and satisfaction. Wouldn’t you agree?
  5. Sense of Belonging and Community: Working together toward common goals, sharing experiences, and supporting one another can foster strong relationships and a sense of camaraderie. We are your tribe! Help us make some waves!

If you want to make impact in ROSA and the romance community next year, please consider putting yourself forward.

We look forward to meeting you!

Naomi McKay writes love stories filled with adventure, heat and a healthy dose of family drama. Whether that family is found or blood, everyone finds their tribe, their place, and the love of their life. Living in the heart of suburbia, Naomi’s days are filled with coffee dates with her husband and long walks with her dogs. When she’s not writing, of course.

Francine Beaton writes sweet and sometimes closed-door spicy romances, including a popular rugby series. Her stories are packed with love, a dash of humour, and plenty of heart.

When she’s not dreaming up new characters or plotting happily-ever-afters, Francine enjoys travelling, binge-watching rugby, and cheering from the couch with a glass of wine in hand. She did try playing rugby once but quickly decided that spectating was far more fun—and much less effort!

Peter Barker

Mariëtte Wenhold lives on a farm outside Swartruggens in the North West province and love the open spaces she share with her husband, Marius, six Jack Russells and their Brahman cattle.

She was a high school language teacher but now enjoys life on the farm. All her work tells a story – whether it is an oil painting, quilt, or a romantic book with awesome characters.

Her debut manuscript, Bosnimf, achieved the second place in the 2018 ROSA Strelizia competition for unpublished authors. It was the first time since ROSA started that an Afrikaans book came in one of the top three spots.

This year, 2024, Bosnimf (a Romanza published by Lapa Uitgewers) also achieved the second place in the ROSA Imbali Awards for Published authors.

Apart from doing creative things she keeps herself busy in the vegetable and flower garden, Biochar production, and beekeeping.

According to her, her worst character trait is procrastination – something lots of writers struggles with. Her favourite procrastination activities are chatting to family and friends, and travelling the world.

I’m Mom to a pigeon pair of adult twins, Matthew and Bryony. My husband and I have an agency for South Africa for white powder… Actually, it is a mineral called Boron, which has a myriad of industrial and agricultural applications, which I manage on a daily basis.

I write contemporary romance as Lacy Muircastle and have self-published a full-length novel and a Novella to date. I use the virtual world of Second Life as the vehicle for how my protagonists meet, where real life and virtual life intertwine.

As TL Fox, I have written and self-published a YA Novella and have a dozen other WIPs in the Sci-Fi, Cozy Mystery and Thriller genres. Most recently, I’ve been working on a collaborative project with my husband.

Peter Barker fell in love with books and reading at an early age, and nurtured s desire to write. Worked as a journalist for a local paper during my teens, and then grabbed every opportunity to print something. I contributed to and edited church magazines, staff magazines, community organisation magazines, and a daily devotional book. I have published one novel, and have contributed to two different anthologies. Enjoying the writing environment after retiring as a corporate accountant.
