Cape Retreat 2023
Held at the iconic Two Oceans Aquarium at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town, this inspiring ROSA event brought together romance writers from across South Africa for an unforgettable experience.
The first day featured a full programme of dynamic speakers, insightful presentations, and creative discussions that sparked new ideas and collaborations. The second day shifted focus to intensive writing sprints, where attendees immersed themselves in their craft, sharing motivation and encouragement in a supportive, professional environment.

Cape Retreat 2019
Cape Retreat for romance authors at the breathtaking Lalapanzi Lodge in Sir Lowry’s Pass, a tranquil mountain hideaway overlooking the Cape’s vineyards and ocean vistas. This inspiring weekend offered the perfect balance of professional development, creative focus, and community connection.
The retreat opened with a full day of guest speakers, featuring Louise Fury, a renowned literary agent from The Bent Agency in New York, as the headline presenter. Her sessions provided invaluable insights into the global publishing landscape, helping South African writers understand how to position their work for international success.
Attendees also enjoyed talks on writing craft, marketing strategies, and the evolving world of romance fiction.
Cape Retreat 2018
The Romance Writers of South Africa (ROSA) hosted its second annual Retreat for romance writers at the breathtaking Lalapanzi Lodge in Sir Lowry’s Pass, nestled among tranquil forests and mountain views.
With space limited to only 15 delegates, the retreat provided an intimate and supportive environment for meaningful interaction. The lineup included four guest speakers, headlined by Louise Fury, a distinguished literary agent from The Bent Agency in New York, who shared invaluable advice on navigating the international publishing world.
Attendees also enjoyed goodie bags, delicious meals, and the opportunity to network with fellow writers in one of the Cape’s most inspiring locations.
