Henry William Dalgliesh Cavill

I have long been a drooler over, ermmm I mean a fan of Henry Cavill. We don’t see enough of him on the big and our not so big screens to feel even remotely satisfied. Give us more Henry Cavill I say!

Imagine my delight when I read he’s just been headlined as being cast as the new Superman!

Due out in 2012 the movie “Superman: Man of Steel” will once again bring us Henry Cavill in tights – yummy! He wore them so well as Charles Brandon in the TV series “The Tudors” I’ll just bet the casting crew couldn’t wait to see him try out for the role of the super hero!

Henry had the following to say about his new role: "In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognised and revered character of all time, and I am honoured to be a part of his return to the big screen."

Warner Brothers executives have said: "He's [Henry} got an amazing quality. He doesn't look too much like Reeve and Routh but he's big and strong and he has a very modern feel to him. We're really going to try and make Superman as contemporary as possible."

If Henry Cavill is going to do for Superman what Daniel Craig did for James Bond they’d better hand out bibs with the movie tickets! I for one prefer my alpha hero a little rugged! Oh and by the way … it looks like Javier Bardem will be Bond’s nemesis! Oh yes … the gods are smiling down on us.

Oh and for those of you who didn’t know, Henry lost out to playing James Bond in Casino Royale because they didn’t think he was old enough to play the role. I’d have to agree with them there seeing as the movie came out in 2005! That would have made him 22 at the time …

Born on the 5th May 1983 in Jersey, the larger of the Channel Islands, Henry is all of … well he’s in his late twenties ladies! For all you cougars out there – he looks very mature, doesn’t he? :)

Of course if you’re old enough to have studied the Tudor period for history at school you’ll wonder why you ever thought them boring after seeing Henry Cavill and Jonathan Rhys Meyers bring their characters to life!

I’ll bet there’s far fewer pupils dropping history as a subject after that TV show aired!

Stephanie Meyer, it has been reported, was very keen to have Henry take on the role of Edward in her Twilight movies. Unfortunately by then Henry was 24 and considered too old for the role!

Henry William Dalgliesh Cavill Talk about bad timing! We’ll have to speak to those Gods and ask them to treat him with more kindness!

I for one would like to see a lot more of Henry Cavill and can’t wait to see him take on the role of Clark Kent. Now, I wonder where Warner Brothers are screen testing for Lois Lane?

What do you think – hot or not?
