Amanda Holly


I was born in Holland but have spent more of my life outside my homeland than in it. As an awkward teenager, being dragged from country to country by my parents, I developed a passion for reading as a form of escapism. Starting with the obligatory teenage girl pony books and Enid Blyton's Famous Five, I soon ran out of readily available material and turned to my parents' bookshelves.

This was how I discovered Jane Austen (Pride and Prejudice was my first) and I fell instantly in love with Mr Darcy. To this day he is still the epitome of the Alpha male for me.

Years later, now married to my own Alpha male, a mother of two and full-time employee in the IT industry, I started looking for a new creative challenge. Writing web site content and product documentation certainly wasn't providing the escapism I was looking for. So I signed myself and a friend up for a writing course and the rest, as they say, is history.

I am targeting Harlequin Mills & Boon Modern Romance. I have several nearly-completed manuscripts and, following some incredible feedback from the Feel the Heat contest last year, I'm about to submit a requested full manuscript.

Writing is the best fun I've had in ages! The thrill of creating my very own Alpha male and having him bend to my heroine's desires ... there's nothing like it! I am determined to succeed at this. This is the story of the emancipation of Amanda Holly ...
